Konami were surprised that PES 2019 was replaced as PS Plus game
Sony’s original lineup for this month’s PlayStation Plus games was disappointing for a lot of their subscribers. Consisting of just Horizon Chase Zero and the Konami developed PES 2019, many fans were upset at the slim pickings offered by Sony.
Just a few days after the announcement, PlayStation announced that PES 2019 would be swapped out in favour of Detroit: Become Human. As it turns out, developer Konami was completely surprised that PES 2019 was being dropped from the PS Plus lineup.
In a statement to GameSpot, a representative said, “The decision was made by Sony and so please make an inquiry to Sony.”
However, PES’ European brand manager Lennart Bobzien told the outlet that Konami was taken by surprise at Sony’s decision.
“I cannot really tell you what happened because I just found out today, in the morning when I opened my laptop,” Bobzien said. “I can’t really explain.”
Many believe the decision has been made due to the soon-to-be-released demo for next year’s instalment in the series: eFootball PES 2020. Whatever the case, many are happy that the game got swapped out for Detroit.
